Healthy Chocolate Orange Dessert
I tried this recently and just had to share it with you. Healthy chocolate desserts do exist and this one is dairy (and wheat and egg) free too. The recipe is from Dale Pinnock’s ‘The Medicinal Chef’ and it tastes delicious.
2 very ripe avocados (healthy fats)
Finely grated zest and juice of 1 large orange (vitamins and antioxidants)
1 tablespoon of honey (good for immune health)
3 tablespoons of raw cacao or good quality cocoa powder (contains antioxidants, polyphenols, flavanols, increases neurotransmitters that make you feel good, is anti-inflammatory)
Scoop out the flesh of the avocados, and put into a food processor, add the remaining ingredients and process to make a thick, rich, mousse-like dessert. Save a little orange zest to sprinkle on top and pop it in the fridge to cool it down. Perfect.
